Friday Treats

My decorating inspiration for the week - so warm, comfortable but regal at the same time.

This website has tons of fantastic Halloween custom ideas and they even give you ideas on how to make them!

In my quest for more info about a farmers market opening near my apartment, i stumbled upon a few great neighborhood blogs about Astoria. Check out ones on Blogger and Wordpress for ones that focus on your area as they can be a wealth of knowledge for restaurants, concerts, weekend activities, etc.

Halloween is quickly approaching and I can't wait to see Paranormal Activity. Now I only need to find someone who will go with me!

Friday Treats

Every year the Long Island Dalia Society has it's annual show at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum on Long Island where they have a gorgeous garden. The show just passed last week but the garden is still there and the fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit.

I truly admire Grace's talents daily on Design*Sponge. You must see the details from her gorgeous wedding - every detail was covered! Beautiful!

All Natural Self Spa Night - I love this idea via 2000 Dollar Budget Wedding. I'm definitely adding this blog to my daily reading!

Love this real wedding on a farm at Snippet & Ink - The "just married" sign is adorable.

Great advice and photos from Darcy Miller on hiring a caterer.

Happy Friday!

Here are a few things from around the web and blogosphere that I enjoyed this week:

I love these vintage posters from WPA found on Apartment Therapy. Check out the posting there for more information about the history and how to order one.

My new favorite blog Relish Small Pleasure. This is a picture of her bedroom that she redesigned.

My wonderful fiance gave me an iPhone for my Birthday a couple of weeks ago and since then I feel so much more organized. I know keep the grocery list on my phone so I can never forget which has probably saved me a couple of extra trips to the store already, plus the calendar prevented me from double booking and having to reschedule later on. Ah, modern technology, where have I been?

I love this calligraphy from Inkwells that I saw on Design*Sponge. If I wasn't so close to the wedding, I would have ordered my name cards. So beautiful!

Figs! What beautiful and inspirational post from SFGirlByBay. The color of the purple figs would fit in very nicely with my wedding next week, and if I can find them I think I may fill one of the apothecary jars with them. Strangely, my neighborhood has a lot of fig trees which the owners gently wrap up every winter to protect them; creating these strange looking white figures that remind me of the characters from the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Friday Treats

I'm so happy it's Friday even with a busy weekend of BBQs and lunches plus the usual wedding preparations as I'm now down to that last 5 weeks! So here are some great inspirations from my week. Gorgeous! The pink inspiration posting at Decor 8 this week has seriously inspired me to re-do my office/guest room in soft pinks - just as soon as the wedding stuff is over with that is.
Creature Comforts was full of cute and pretty quick DIY projects this week. Check out the Sliver frame and above and more. I love this invitation from 100 Layers - so creative and elegant. I feel the need to throw a tea party just for the girls.
I just finished reading The Diving Bell and the Butterfly which was turned into a movie a few years ago. It is really a beautiful story that reminds you to appreciate the simplest of life's gifts. Or as Edmund White perfectly states, the book makes you "fall back in love with life". A must read!

Friday Treats

Happy Friday! I have the day off my regular job today and I'm so excited that it stopped raining! I have a ton of wedding errands to run today, but at least I get to do it in great weather.

My home office could badly use a makeover. Here is the plan for Style Me Pretty with the breakdown at Young House Love.

Yummy marshmallows from Something Old, Something New. I'm craving some s'mores.

There are some great Before and After projects posted on Design*Sponge this week. Can you believe this was an old filing cabinet?

This anniversary tradition from 2000 Dollar Budget Wedding is really sweet.

I love these dresses from Alix and Kelly at 100 Layers - any chance they are going to open a store in New York?
